Easy Tips for Getting a Home Ready to Sell

As your Closing Coordinator, you can rest assured knowing that we are not only Licensed Real Estate Agents but can sympathize with your clients as they go to sale their property and purchase a new home; as our Founder and Owner, Linda Cantrell recently went through this process herself.

As your Seller gets ready to put their property on the market, they can feel like it’s a daunting task, but it doesn’t have to be. Your Sellers may think their property is in top-notch shape but when they look at it from a Buyer’s position, their viewpoint changes. Below are some helpful tips that Linda found while getting her house ready to be on the market that you may be able to share with your Sellers:

Declutter: Organize those closets, cabinets, drawers and countertops - make them look pristine! The saying “less is more” is certainly true when it comes to your home showing well. Don’t feel the pressure to fill the space. Leave some room for the buyers to imagine their belongings there.

Stage: Stage well! Let the furniture speak for themselves and give a warmth to the room they’re in. Some Buyers have a tough time envisioning how to decorate a space. Having some furniture staged can really help sell the home!

Be Subtle: Be subtle in your paint colors and the furniture pieces you put inside the home. If it’s too loud, Buyers can have a hard time seeing past that. The less work the Buyers have to do, the more appealing the home is to them.

Repairs: If you see something wrong that can easily be repaired, do it! Change out the light bulb that is out, touch up the paint, caulk and re-grout, etc. These small touches show that you care about the property you’re selling.

Clean: No one likes to view a home that feels and smells odd. Take the time to clean the inside and outside of the home – mow the yard, pressure wash the home/driveway, etc. Curb appeal is what draws the Buyers to come inside and what better way to welcome them in than with a pleasant smell (using wall-plugs/fresheners)!
